The Thing in Lydia's Room

“I have this little place I go. Magic exists there, and wonderful, beautiful light…but also the scariest, worst monsters ever imagined.”
“Ah,” said the being in Lydia’s room. She couldn’t see him, not really…but she knew he was there all the same. Everyone is capable of knowing things beyond what they can see. Lydia was just really good at it.
“I haven’t ever told anyone this…but I still have my imaginary friend.”
“Oh, I know,” Said the thing.
“How?” Lydia asked, confused, but at the same time enthralled by the entity in her room.
“I know you better than you know yourself.”

It was then that Lydia became fearful. The air where the thing was wavered like a heat wave, swelling, condensing, and then it flew into Lydia’s chest, wrapping itself around her pure heart, squirming itself into the deepest recesses of her mind, feeding on her innocence.

Everything went black.
