Road Kill Stew
“Hello Sandra, what are you and Jim are doing for Thanksgiving?”
“We don’t have any plans.”
“Why don’t you come over and have Thanksgiving dinner with us?”
“Ohhhh, that would be great. What can I bring to go with the turkey?”
“TURKEY? Oh NO Sandra. W aren’t having turkey! We don’t believe in purposefully killing living birds and animals to fulfill our own culinary pleasure.”
“So, have you become vegetarians?”
“No – we’re having Road Kill Stew. The animals in it were not killed purposefully!”
“Ummm, Where do you get the ingredients?”
“No, we could never make this ourselves. We have found this magnificent product already canned. It is packed in Mississippi River water and the road kill has never been on the road for more than 3 days! That’s just long enough to bring out the flavor but not botulism.”
“What’s in it?”
“Mostly rabbit, skunk, possum, coon, squirrel, armadillo, frog and carrots.”
“Oh, I’m so sorry Sue. I just remembered – Jim is allergic to carrots! Bye”
