And We were Off

He looked at me with a look of horror. Time to play the optimistic one again.

“They’ll be fine,” I let assurance flood my voice, “They have nothing the seekers want. We, however, do.”

“You’re right,” he glanced at the doorway one last time before turning to face the window, “Let’s go.”

“What? No sarcastic last words?”

A grin danced on his face, “Ladies first.”

“What do you mean- AHHH !” I screamed as he pushed me out the window with my sweater only half off and my wings still not out.

“Shhh. They might hear you,” he whispered as he glided down to the ground.

Thump

“I will never invite you to do something again,” I got up and tore my sweater off the rest of the way.

Keeping one eye on the door I explained how to get to the meeting, “Do you understand? We could have trouble if the Greek god representative shows up before us.”

“Let’s go,” and we were off.
