April finds herself in the basment again. Her least favorite place to be..

Her dad doesn’t seem able to stop hitting her after hes been drinking.

Now she is in the basment all sore and in lots of pain. She can’t seem to stop crying. It seems to comfort her from her pain.

She can hear her mother argue with her father. She can tell hes been drinking heavily. Their voices get louder and louder. Their footsteps seem heavier and louder.

She takes refuge in the corner of the basement. She is frightened . She holds her teddy bear and looks at his hopeful but sad eyes. She talks to him as if he were a person.

Make mommy and daddy stop fighting.. I hate it when they fight. Daddy scares me when he drinks. He gets really mean. I don’t know what makes him so angry. He always has to hit me. I don’t even remember doing anything wrong.
She hugs her teddybear and starts to cry. She feels so alone in the basment. So cold and so alone. She hopes that mommy doesn’t get hurt by daddy too. She starts to pray.
