All in the Family
Winter hung up the phone and blew out a lungful of air. Well, it felt way better to get that off her chest – no more secrets – but obviously, a lot more problems were presented as well. Like she had said, Haley’s dad was a high-profile Interpol employee. The parents would definitely not be meeting each other soon.
She cursed. She hoped that Haley had not gotten the hint that Winter only liked him so her mom could get at his dad. Though that was the original plan, she had actually grown to really like him. And she hated her mom. A power-hungry little…you-know-what.
But her mom was also her employer. Out of the business, out of the family. It wasn’t like a mafia, or a family crime business, it was just the little unwritten deal between her and her mother.
The power-hungry little…you-know-what.
Winter sighed and the stolen Jeep slowed beside a tall, worn oak. She stepped out, pulling three red leaves from a big pile next to it. A steel door opened nearby and she walked through.
