Let me get this straight…
Earth has somehow captured a huge asteroid in its orbit? Or it’s a near pass by one?

To cause extra-high tides, it would have to be on the same side of the planet as the moon…

Still confused, but in a different manner.

Asteroid: any of the small rocky celestial bodies found especially between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter
Meteor: any of the small particles of matter in the solar system that are directly observable only by their incandescence from frictional heating on entry into the atmosphere
Meteoroid: a meteor in orbit around the sun
Meteorite: a meteor that reaches the surface of the earth without being completely vaporized

It really doesn’t fit any of these…

As to the tides, it could be opposite the moon, like I mentioned, as well. And the sun plays a role too.
