LOA CHALLENGE, The Seasoned Elm

You know what makes this moment so special?

Winter.

Six months ago I was wiping the frost off of my bedroom window for a peek at the snowfall. The great Elm was hunkered down, hibernating, like a frozen community of octopuses with snow sugared extremities.
Yeah, it was fun while it lasted, but the cold drafts of sickness that sogged up my skin and wetted my snow melted socks chilled the novelty of winter right out of my hot cocoa heart.
Soon enough I was fantasizing about summer—how nice it is not to shiver next to the shower while the water heats. How fantastic it is to walk outside with just a t-shirt and shorts on, without layers of fleeces, sweaters and coats.

Lisa and Kim come into view. Ben’s straggling behind, pretending to be nonchalant with the magnifying glass, but I know he’s stolen more than one glance at Kim’s legs—ultra close from afar. A beta male at best, he’d never approach her for anything more than a piece of bubble gum. But that’s ok, summer is our only true love.
