WOO HOO!
I froze.
Please say yes. Please, please, please!
I accidentally verbalized a “please.”
NONONONONONONO !!!!!
I heard Hayley sigh.
She’s gonna say no.
I doubled over on my bed, bracing for impact.
“Sure.”
“Can you repeat that?” I asked, not believing my ears.
“I’ll go out with you.”
WOO HOO !!!
I was really glad that Hayley didn’t see me pantomiming the actions of a crazed football fan who’s favorite team just won the super bowl with no loses.
“Awesome.” I bet she could hear my grin from over the phone.
“So…Where do you want to go?” Hayley asked.
“My parents can pick us up from school and we can hang out at my place.”
“Sounds good.”
In a few minutes, plans were set in stone.
I jumped down the stair to talk to my Dad, the person who mentions my blindness most.
“Dad, just to let you know, I have a girl coming over and she doesn’t know I’m blind. I want to keep it that way. Okay?” I said.
“You are setting yourself up for disaster.” He said calmly.
“Just don’t say anything, okay?”
“Okay.”
Sweetness…....
