Ficlets

Definitley

I woke up again early in the morning. I sat up without waking Brooke up. I kissed her on the forehead and went off to shower.

I don’t know what it was, but something just felt different today. I got on my better sport coat, tied my tie, and cranked up a new band I just heard of. I think it’s called Taking Back Sunday.

I found a good parking space and walked into my building with a bit of a jump in my step. I walked into my shaded cubicle and hooked up my laptop. I logged on and saw Parker reflected in my screen.

“Hey!” I said, swinging around in my swivel chair. “Wassup!”

Parker looked happy to see me, but he looked like something was troubling him.

“I don’t want to marry Jolinda.” He said quietly.

“Yeah you do.” I said. “It’s just her obsessing about it that’s driving you crazy. Just pull through and you won’t regret it.”

Parker’s expression flickered for a split second, tthen he smiled.

“Yeah.” He said. “See you at our coffee break?”

“Definitely.” I grinned.
