He's a Good Man
I wake up in Bernard’s arms. I shift to get up and streach, careful not to wake Bernard up. Once free of his loving grasp, I get up and walk down to the lake. I pull out my phone and dial voicemail, bracing myself for calls from home asking where I was.
First unheard message. “Faith? Faith where are you? Are you still with that Leo kid? What did he do with you. Call me back. Hurry, I’m getting worried Faith!”
I hang up without listening to the rest. I dial mom’s number and she picks up on the first ring.
“Faith? Where are you?” My mom says into the phone. “I’ve been worried sick!”
“I’m aright mom. Leo triedsome crap on me and I called Bernard. He saved me. We’re at the lake right now. He took me here last night to clam me down, and we fell asleep.” I explain a little sheepisly.
“Oh, your with Bernard? Ok. He’s a good man, ya know Faith.” I laugh at what my mother is telling me.
“Trust me, I know mom.” As I hang up Bernard wraps his arms around my waist from behind. “He’s a very good man.”
