Just Like Old Times
I place my head on her shoulder (I have to bend to get to her height).
“Good Morning Faith, and how is your mother doing this morning?” I ask.
“She was a little freaked about where I was but when I told I was with you she was okay. What about your dad?” She says.
“Oh, he’ll be fine. As long as he doesn’t get a call saying I’m in jail he will be just fine.” We both laugh.
Faith looks up to the sky and says, “It really warm out this morning don’t you think?”
I follow her gaze to the sky, it was warmer than usual I have to admit. I smile.
“What up with you?” She asks me.
I place my left hand on her back and sweep her up, cradling her.
“What are you doing?” She asks me.
I walk over the side of the lake and jump in, her falling with me. We swim for a while, laughing, smiling, splashing, hugging, Faith trying to pull me down under the water and not succeeding, a bit of kissing, and all together having fun. Just like old times.
