The Everlasting Hurricane
I always watch the weather before I go swimming. My name is Kate and I love to swim. I’m on the swim team in my school Goodrich Middle. I live in Florida and about 10 feet away from the beach is my house. I’ve lived here since I was born and I will live nowhere else. And I totally mean nowhere else.
Today was a typical day. A clear, blue sky, but to tell the truth it was hotter than usual. It was 103 degrees outside and I was overjoyed. I was about to pick up the phone to call my friends so we could swim together when I remembered to watch the weather. I turned on channel seven and waited for the weather. A few minutes later, there it was. In big print “HURRICANE WATCH ”. I didn’t worry because small hurricanes hit Florida all the time. What could a little rain and wind do? Then, I heard my phone ring. Mom and Dad were at work so I was home alone. I picked up the phone. It was mom.
“Hi mom what’s up?” I asked.
“Honey, I have to tell you some bad news. A hurricane is about to hit Florida and it’s a biggy”.
