Troubled
Tossing & turning the ugly thoughts in her head, she layed awake in her bed. Trying to sleep she closed her eyes, but opened them quickly as she saw the darkening memories everytime her eyes shut. Knowing her parent was still downstairs she quietly opened the window next to her bed and climbed out. As soon as she hit the ground she was running. No second thoughts. She made it to the top of the hill and paused for only a second to look back at her house, her family, her life. In a flash the moment was gone and she was running again. Where she was running to she had no idea. But she had some notion that if she ran far and fast enough, eventually she’d leave her thoughts behind her. After an hour of straight running, she had to stop. She could hear herself breathing unevenly and even louder the pounding in her chest. Even in this time of insanity she was human enough to actually look at her watch to see what time it was. It was 2AM. She sat down, put her face in her hands, & cried for the first time in months.
