Careful (Nirvana!)
Davin’s mind was already whirling with the possibilities though. I took a shuddering breath, ignoring all his unspoken pleas, “Davin,” I whispered, “I don’t even know how to fight without killing someone.”
I frowned, considering that this was really a great oversight in my training. Maybe the Magistrate’s never thought I’d want to just catch, only kill. Maybe my brother had been right.
I shuddered, “Can you imagine what would happen if I tried that? I have to be careful enough when we’re just being playful.”
Playful, he thought-muttered to himself.
“Kissing,” I said, “Making out. Whichever term you prefer. I have to make sure I don’t break the skin layer.”
You didn’t seem so careful this morning, he pointed out, referin to the love bite this morning.
I frowned, “Did I break through? Was there any blood involved?”
Well, no but—
I shook my head, “Then, obviously, I was being careful.”
He scowled, I wish you didn’t have to be careful.
“Me too,” I whispered, “But no, I’m not giving in.”
