Hidden Promise
Jack took Anna’s hands off his chest & placed them around his neck. “I’m sorry Anna,” he whispered while holding her. But over her shoulder, he couldn’t help staring down Lance Rockwell. “How dare that mongrel even think about touching her. I swear. One day I will get him back for this. Look at what he’s put her through. She might’ve had a kid! Oh I swear. One of these days, he will regret ever stepping in to her life. I swear it.” Jack was too involved with his thoughts to hear his name being called the first time.
“Jack?” Anna said again.
“Yes, what is it?” Jack said soothingly, stroking Anna’s hair.
“Are you..alright now? You’re tensing up again.” Jack could feel Anna frowning in his chest.
“I’m alright now…are you?” Jack felt a small nod on his chest.
“Take me home Jack.”
Jack smiled, “Not yet.”
Anna forced her head out of the comfortableness of his chest, & frowned at him. “What? Why not?”
Jack smiled bigger, “Just because we’re not shopping into Old Navy, doesn’t mean we’re not shopping.
