Afraid of Heights

She walked in, like a girl in a dream, wandering around, unsure of what she was looking for. But it was so huge, she quickly realized she wouldn’t be able to find anything.”Hey, let’s go,” he said.”If you wanna see the coolest place in Times Square, I’ll take you there now. It’s right next door.”

He led her over to the biggest Toys R’Us she had ever seen. Inside was a gigantic ferris wheel. “Can we go on?” she asked, seeing the line of kids below them.

“Sure, if you want to,” he said, going to the ticket booth to pay.

“Here, I’ll pay for my ticket,” she said, pulling a bunch of crumpled one dollar bills out of her pocket and placing them on the counter.

As the ferris wheel slowly climbed to the top, she could feel Chris’ legs shaking next to hers.”What’s wrong?” she asked, confused.

“I’m kinda…afraid of heights,” he said, wincing and closing his eyes.

“Why’d you come on the ferris wheel then?” she asked, even more confused.

“Because you wanted to,” he replied, opening his eyes again.
