“I’m not scared. Infact I’m almost happy you feel that way about Lance…& I know I shouldn’t be because I don’t want you to get in trouble & get hurt. I don’t want to drag you into a past that’s over & done with. Lance…is gone now. For good.” Jack had felt Anna cringe everytime she said Lance’s name.
“Anna? You know you’re safe right? You know I’m not going to let anything happen to you right?”
Anna couldn’t look at Jack. Even the first time she’d met him on the bus she’d felt a wave of security wash over her. But feelings had nothing to do with it. Trust. She had never trusted anyone with hardly anything for as long as she could remember. Especially since Lance..she just couldn’t. And Jack was wanting her to trust him with her life..
“Anna, you’re not fooling anyone by letting your curly bangs cover the side of your face. I can still see that you’re hiding something, other than your pretty face.” Anna looked up at him & he smiled at her. He pulled her close and kissed the top of her head.
