Eve was carefully crawling across the floor when her cell phone started blaring I’m Alive. She cursed herself for not changing her general ringtone to something tamer than Disturbed, but it was too late to worry about that now. At least it was until Isaac muted it halfway through.

She turned her head slowly to him imagining all the ways she’d seen people being killed barehanded. Her thoughts were interrupted by another knock. She narrowed her eyes at Isaac and shook her head.

Taking a deep breath, she stood and went to the door.

“What are you doing?!” Isaac whispered urgently.

She pointed at her phone, “You’re the idiot who muted it half ring!” she whispered back.

“Oh yeah,” he mouthed back and sat back on his heels, shoulders dropping.

Eve straightened her back, and at the last minute, thought to look through the peephole, “Oh my god!” She yanked the door open and Joshua stepped in falling against Eve.

Isaac half lunged, half crawled to help her get Josh to the couch. “What happened to you?”
