“What do you want to do today?” Jezza was lying beside the lazily drifting stream dipping her fingertips into the cool water.

Kindred watched her for a while before answering. He loved how beautiful she was with the morning’s sun sparking the golden hues in her red hair.

“I don’t know. What do you want to do today?”

He grinned as he tossed a red berry in Jezza’s direction. It bounced into the stream, splashing water into her face.

She squealed and pushed herself from the grassy plain. She stood, gathering her skirts up, “I will entertain myself, then,” she threatened.

Kindred rolled his eyes and sighed. She turned her back to him and crossed her arms.

“Fine,” he growled and pushed himself from the ground.

Jezza laughed and ran toward the castle, Kindred loping along behind her. The moment they entered their smiles instantly dropped.

The innards of the castle were replaced by an obsidian glass square. Two giant heads stare intently at them.

The blond boy said, “Ew! You’re going to be the girl!”
