“What?” I asked, half asleep.
“I thought you were having a horrible time, so I came to get you. My mom’s waiting out front! Come on!” Wow. Katie was my best friend that I had known and loved for years. But sometimes, she could be a little “out there”.
“What? No! I’m fine, everything got solved. For now, I think.”
“What about Mandy?”
“She left a while ago,”.
“Oh, well, I miss you so let’s go!” Katie ran to the door and stopped dead in her tracks. Joe was standing in the doorway.
“Hey,” he said quietly, starring at her.
