whoa. this is really good. i have NOOO idea what i would choose… but i don’t think that the government would take away rights if you were more robotic… but i dont really know… :) i still wouldnt kno what to choose…. :D
Way to drop us right in the middle of a pickle. Even with just the context of this story, it seems apparent that losing the arm is the safest way to proceed.
Wow, what a situation! That’s a great take on the cyborg possibility with social implications. What a choice. I’d keep the arm, so I could give society the finger with both hands.

That’d gave me the heebie jeebies. In a good way, though. XD I don’t know what I’d choose. On one hand (no pun intended) you can choose to be half cyborg… O_O On the other, you can choose to lose your arm and still live as human. I seriously don’t know what I’d do! Great thought provoker. : )
Loved this one—and it really set my blood boiling. Just imagining a future where advancements set us back socially (such a realistic possibility, be it robotic or the more likely scenario involving genetic engineering) gets my grey matter wheels of injustice turning at high speed. Great ficlet! Always a fan of your imagination.
I also thought if he lost a robotic finger he’d be under 50%, though I bet the pain governs his brain right now more than anything. :) Fantastic dilemma!
Very cool little story. Shocking, but with realistic implications. Kind’ve reminiscent of “Bicentennial Man:” “Wouldn’t it be safe to say that all the humans wading in the gene pool with artificial organs are part robot, at least in part?” 5-stars to be had for all!
