That picture always makes me open my eyes wide. (I have no idea why.. it’s weird I know.) Love the story! Pigeons are sneaky little critters, always gathering about where people are. Great opening!

I like the combination of a zany character plus the two characters talking about her. It adds an extra layer rather than just describing her outright. The last bit also added nicely to the mystery.

I like the little dialogue that sets it up as a conversation. And yes, that picture made me look twice just to see if those were spools of ribbon hanging from her ears.
