Amethyst Frontier: Blast

“She disappearing, Commander,” Brill reported.
“Engineering, please tell me you’ve made adjustments to the shields,” Frosty was anxious.
“We have.I don’t know if it’ll be enough, but we have 120% to the shields.” answered Kosta.
“All hand; brace for impact,” Frosty shut down comms, and looked at Laura Brill just as the Karama exploded.
The initial blast was an orange flash that sent a shock through the Amethyst that had circuits and relays pop and explode in flashing puffs of smoke. The secondary blast was a blinding blue/indigo explosion that sent the ship reeling back, with ship’s crew flying over tables, chairs and bulkheads. The rumble was deafening, the smoke from charred computers choked the lungs and burned the eyes of all aboard. The view on the screen showed stars spinning this way to that.
As the shock subsided, the ensign at nav called, “Initiating Nav-Stabilizers”
The stars righted themselves as thrusters fired.
The crew stood up to stare blankly at the view screen.
“The Karama!” Brill said.
Gone!
