Phone Call
I wasn’t on the road very long before my cell phone rang. It was John.
I ignored it and switched my cell to silent. I turned up my radio and began singing along to “Flavor of the Week” by American Hi-Fi. I rolled down the top to my convertable and let the sun warm my face.
I pulled of at the exit that led me to Phoenix and then stopped at a McDonald’s for a late lunch. I ordered a Big Mac and sat down at a table. After I finished my lunch, I pulled out my cell phone. I scrolled through my contacts until I found the number I had been looking for.
“Hello?” A familar voice answered.
“Hey Sadie…” I said, unsure if she’d recgonize my voice. It had been ages since we had talked.
“Lil Sis!” She shreiked into my ear and I laughed at her excitement, glad some things hadn’t changed. “What’s going on?”
“I need your help..” I told her a little unsure.
“Why else would you be calling after not talking for 5 years?” She laughed.
“Can I stay with you for a bit?” I asked.
