She was standing there, gaping at us. One person- please!

Once you had to do something like this for a while, you got over it; you had to.

Another man came barreling up behind me, and I jumped out of the way. Where was the man? Where had he disappeared to now?

I knew he was still there. Kind of a feeling. Also, the voice was buzzing rapidly in my head, trying to create confusion.

It didn’t work this time. I was able to, in a sense, not listen to them, to discard the orders like they were nothing.

The girl, Audrey, wasn’t safe. The attackers were ignoring her because they knew they could get her later. She was already stopped, already captured.

There were only a couple left, surprisingly. Unless others were in hiding, which there probably were.

The forest was a good place to hide, but not to try to find people. If we split up, if any of us disappeared from sight, it was over.

We had to stay together, but find a way out of here, find a way to a place where even they couldn’t hide.
