The 13th Curse part 11

I noticed that my voice turned softer as I spoke about Jet, and my eyes wandered to the unknown. I flushed even redder.
Vanessa seems to have noticed this too, because she stopped short in the middle of the empty hallway. I tried to hear what she said next, for her voice was barely audible, even with no one around.
“You like him, don’t you?â€?
Vanessa said it in such a tone I had thought I had hurt her. But when she looked up at me, and gave me such a look, I felt more embarrassed than I ever had in my whole life.
“Well, yes.â€? I surprised even myself. “Yeah, I guess I like him.â€?
“And you’re worried that he doesn’t like you, right?â€?
I sighed. I couldn’t answer that question, not at that time. “I don’t know, Van.â€? I admitted. It’s better to admit something to a friend instead of keeping it to yourself.
She smiled, and started walking again. “Well, no worries,â€? she said with pride. “I saw the way he looks at you. Natasha, you have absolutely nothing to worry about.
