Answer to His Lordship
Lucas had been walking for a while. Judith lay sleeping in his arms. If only Lissom were here. He couldn’t help think.
After some time had past, they came to an arboretum. There were pine trees, apple trees, orange trees, and trees they couldn’t even begin to name. “Judi!” Lucas shook her awake.
“What?” She asked sleepily. She looked up and saw all of the beautiful fruits that they could eat.
“Don’t take anything, yet.” But it was too late. Judith had already began to stuff her face with whatever she could get her hands on. “Try some, Luc,” Judith put an orange piece in his mouth.
Presently, some workers came, in their hands were baskets and notepads. They wore strips of extravagant cloth draped over their bodies. All that one could see were their goat-like faces and hairy legs.
One that was closest to the children glared at them. “You have eaten Lord Vlagmartt’s forbidden fruit.” He roared.
“But- but she gave it to me!” Lucas cried pointing at Judith.
“Both will have to answer to his lordship.”
