Woo-hoo! It’s official: I’ve published 50 ficlets! This means a challenge is in store for you, kids. So here ‘tis…

Pick a song lyric, any lyric you like, and let that be the opening line of your story. The more your ficlet connects the lyric to the theme, structure, style, etc. of your story, the better your chances of winning.

Again, you can choose any lyric you like from any song, so be creative and have fun!

I will select a winner on November 1st. My choice will be determined not just by my opinion but also yours, so please comment on the entries and help make my job a little easier. :p

Very interesting. Similar to other Ficlets, but so what? It’s not like there’s a finite number of song lyrics. (OK, technically, there is, but who among us knows what it is?)

did you by any chance get the idea for this challenge after reading my very short only just beginning series with lyrics in it?

if so then yeah for sharing ideas!!

im totally entering this! but…I just have to think of the absolute BEST lyric to use in the story…so it may be a while lol
no i have actually JUST thought of one right now as im writing this

Oh, I have to go back and read the other ficlets that go in the series. I do remember the Gold Lion ficlet, yes… don’t remember that it was part of a series.Hmm, now I’m intrigued! Must go read! :)

I won’t be on as much for a while (sniff, sniff) because the school year just began again plus I’m scrambling to finish my thesis on top of grading mountains of papers. I’ll still drop in from time to time, though. :D

Reading and writing are my life, both in my profession as a Language Arts teacher and in my studies in English Lit. as a grad. student. I like many different literary genres, but I most love fairy tales, fantasy, and historical fiction.

When I’m not being a slave to my muse or grading papers, I’m either:
a.) on my DS (currently: FF3)
b.) reading the Twilight series for the umpteenth time
c.) watching “Ghost Hunters” (shivers)
d.) all of the above.
