Unconventional Zen Master Challenge

Today marks my one month anniversary of my discovering ficlets. I can’t believe it’s been only one month; It feels like I have found a piece of me, that I didn’t know was missing. You guys are awesome!

In this short period I have accomplished:
composed 40 ficlets (this one included),
extended some series,
started my own series,
posed the paint a picture challenge (it’s here http://ficlets.com/stories/30851 for those of you who still want to enter),
joined the League of Awesomeness (on my second day)
and written over 380 comments (some good, some short and some that I wish I could delete or at least edit).
Oh, and set myself the personal goal to nirvana all my ficlets.

So, I guess it’s time for a new challenge.
I want you to write a ficlet or series about an unconventional Zen master. Forget the “what is the sound of one hand clapping” or “a tree falls in a forest” stuff. I want new. I want innovative or just plain crazy.

Judging will take place on the 4th of July. (A good a day as any, I suppose)

Congrats on the milestone. I’ll have to think about this for a while, but I’m sure I can come up with something.

dont quite understand the jist of the challenge.. I have to be honest I really dont understand what an unconventional zen master is.. but once I see some examples, I am sure to chip in. :) Welcome to ficlets (yes this is rather late..sorry) Congrats on your achievements. You should be so proud!

Woohoo, I like the sound of that comments:ficlets ratio. Downright awesome! Definite phooey on that old-school zen silliness. I mean really, one hand clapping? I can do that. Tree in the forest? Duh, yes. Simple physics. Fun challenge, could yield some odd stuff.

Fun challenge.. smells like a comdey to me… gladyou found and love Ficlets, you’re a wonderful addition to this eclectic group of authors. welcome, stay a long time, and write many mnay more ficlets.

Haha, good challenge. I think I actually know some unconventional zen folk, though they may border on being a little “too” unconventional to write about… hmmm

pyro when i saw the zen master challenge i said to my, to my William. S Burroughs bobble head, “I bet that is Pyro’s challenge.” but me and him and on speaking terms right now so he just nodded.

Ok, I finally finished my entry. Not entirely happy with the ending. I feel I rushed through it, but I’ve never been good with endings.

Hm… odd I can do. Not sure about the whole “zen master” thing. I hope you’re not going for accuracy, because I know nada about zen masters. Man this is a toughie… I’ll see what I can dig up for myself…

I’m not sure if Indian gurus count as Zen masters, but what the heck? I entered anyway. Nice challenge!
