Challenge by Numbers
10:1
Those who know in what I tend to take pride will probably have a good guess to what that ratio refers. But it’s numbers.
I giggle a little at how much here, this land of words and ideas, we still focus on numbers. We track them. We commemorate them with challenges. We hope for them.
Numbers are important, I know. They always have been, across time and across cultures. Heck, it’s having a basis of numbers that even allows for the marking of time. Even beyond that though we embue numbers with significance and meaning.
13 is unlucky or time for a Barmitzvah.
1 is the loneliest number, but 2 can be as bad as one.
7 is a cycle of days and time for a day of rest.
100 is perfect.
So here’s your challenge, to write me a ficlet about numbers, or about a number being sigificance, gaining significance, or even losing significance. Take some words, wrap them around a number or some numbers, and make them all play nicely together to create some meaning. Go forth and be awesome!
